Masterclass Recap | Building the Foundations for Circular Business Growth

GreenScale Zambia hosted its first virtual Masterclass, bringing together more than 80 entrepreneurs and MSMEs from Lusaka and the Copperbelt, representing a diverse range of green and circular economy businesses. Participants included enterprises in sustainable agriculture, waste management and recycling, renewable energy, eco-friendly manufacturing, circular fashion, green construction, environmental services and other innovative sectors driving Zambia’s transition to a circular economy.

The session opened with Dr. Giveson Zulu, Circular Economy Expert, who unpacked the Foundations of the Circular Economy, demonstrating how circular principles can drive business growth, improve resource efficiency and create long-term environmental and economic value.

Participants also gained valuable insights from Kabwela Malupande, whose session, “The Entrepreneurial Journey: From Idea to Impact,” challenged entrepreneurs to think beyond ideas and focus on building resilient, purpose-driven businesses capable of creating lasting impact.

A lively Question & Answer session encouraged participants to reflect on their own business models, explore how they fit within the circular economy and discuss practical ways to integrate circular practices into their operations.

This masterclass marked an important milestone in the GreenScale Zambia journey, equipping entrepreneurs with the knowledge, mindset and practical tools needed to build competitive businesses that contribute to a more inclusive and sustainable green economy.

We look forward to supporting these entrepreneurs as they continue transforming ideas into impactful, circular enterprises.
