Today, we had the pleasure of hosting ICLEI Africa representatives — Amy Murgatroyd, Pillar Lead for Food Markets & Infrastructure, at the Africa City Food Centre and Meembo Changula from ICLEI Africa — for a walk-through at Chilenje Market.

We were joined by representatives from the Lusaka City Council, the Chilenje Market Master, and several stakeholders, as we assessed progress on key project components.

The site visit highlighted significant milestones, including the water reticulation system renovations by DICHEM and the solid waste management system upgrades by CaDev. Construction of the new waste bay is well underway, and waste separation bins are now being placed around the market.

We are excited to see the project moving steadily toward its official launch and handover. This collaboration continues to pave the way for safer, cleaner, and more resilient Chilenje markets.
